How removal works
The tool decodes each image and draws its visible pixels onto a new browser Canvas, then exports a newly encoded file. Standard EXIF, GPS, IPTC and XMP blocks from the original file are not copied. Re-encoding may alter file size, compression, color-profile handling, animation and other non-pixel data. For highly sensitive or forensic workflows, verify the downloaded result with a dedicated metadata inspector before publishing.
Frequently asked questions
Does this remove GPS coordinates?
Yes. The clean copy contains newly encoded pixels and does not copy the original GPS metadata block.
Why are only JPG, PNG and WebP accepted?
These formats are consistently decodable and exportable in modern browsers. HEIC and TIFF support varies and could produce unreliable results.
Does the original photo change?
No. The original file is untouched. You download a separate clean copy with “_clean” added to its name.
Will animation be preserved?
No. Browser Canvas exports a static image. Use this tool for still photos rather than animated WebP files.
