Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Files are decoded and compressed locally. The usage request sent when compression begins contains no image data.
Why was the original kept?
The generated output was larger and “Keep original when smaller” was enabled. This avoids a misleading negative saving.
Does compression remove EXIF and GPS?
Yes. Canvas-generated outputs normally omit source metadata, including camera and location fields.
Can target-size mode guarantee an exact number?
No. It searches JPEG or WebP quality levels and returns the closest practical result. Resize dimensions if the target cannot be reached.
Does this preserve animation?
No. Animated formats are not accepted because browser canvas export produces a static frame.
