Writing a CV that gets read

Keep it parseable

Most applications pass through automated screening first. A single-column layout with standard headings survives that parsing; multi-column designs with text boxes and icons frequently do not.

Lead with outcomes

Bullets that state a result beat bullets that state a duty. "Cut build times from 12 to 3 minutes" says more than "responsible for CI maintenance".

One page, usually

Under ten years of experience, one page is the expectation. Cut the oldest roles down to a single line each rather than shrinking the font to fit.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything stays in your browser. Drafts are saved to your device local storage, and the PDF is produced by your own browser print engine. Nothing is transmitted to a server at any point.

How do I get a PDF?

Click Download PDF. Your browser print dialog opens with the resume already formatted for A4 — choose "Save as PDF" as the destination. The page furniture, editor and navigation are automatically excluded.

Is the output ATS-friendly?

Yes. The layout is deliberately single-column with real text, standard section headings and no tables, images or text boxes, which is what applicant tracking systems parse most reliably.

Can I come back and edit later?

Yes. Click Save Draft and the resume is stored in your browser. It reloads automatically next time you open the page on the same device and browser. You can also export a JSON file as a portable backup.

How many entries can I add?

As many as you need — experience, education and project sections all take unlimited entries. Keep an eye on the live preview to see where the page break falls.
