Choosing PNG or SVG

PNG is convenient for websites, presentations and messaging. SVG is resolution-independent and is usually the better choice for signs, packaging and other printed materials. Neither format makes the destination dynamic: changing a static QR code requires generating a new code.

Privacy and security

QR generation occurs in your browser. Sensitive values such as WiFi passwords are encoded directly into the QR pattern, so anyone who scans or photographs the code can recover them. Share and display such codes carefully.

What error-correction level should I choose?

Medium works well for most clean digital uses. Choose Quartile or High for harsher environments or minor visual obstruction, understanding that this creates a denser pattern.

Can I change the destination later?

Not in a static QR code. The encoded data is fixed. A redirect URL under your control can provide a changeable destination.

Why will my customized QR code not scan?

Insufficient contrast, a missing quiet zone, excessive density, small print size or obstruction can reduce reliability. Return to black on white and test again.
