Frequently asked questions
Why does my PDF show no fields?
It may be flattened, scanned, XFA-based or designed to look like a form without interactive AcroForm fields.
Are existing values preserved?
Yes. Existing values are loaded into the editor and remain unless you change or clear them.
Can I edit read-only fields?
No. The editor displays them for context but does not submit changes to fields marked read-only.
Will calculations and JavaScript run?
Not necessarily. Viewer-specific calculations, validation scripts and dynamic behaviors may not run during server-side filling.
Does this flatten the form?
No. The output remains a PDF with form fields; appearance streams are regenerated to improve display compatibility.
