Ignore formatting noise

Whitespace-insensitive mode collapses spaces and trims lines before matching. Case-insensitive mode helps compare human text where capitalization is not meaningful.

Unified patches

Portable change format

The unified view includes file headers and hunk ranges. It is useful for reviews and sharing, though generated patches should be tested before applying.

Performance

Designed for focused comparisons

For browser stability, each side supports up to 3,000 lines and 1 MB. Use Git or a desktop diff application for very large repositories and binaries.

How to compare two files

  1. Paste text or open an original and modified file.
  2. Select whitespace or case options when appropriate.
  3. Press Compare and switch between aligned and unified views.
  4. Navigate change groups, then copy or download the patch.

Diff Viewer FAQ

Are binary files supported?

No. This tool compares text line by line. Images, archives, executables and other binary files require a specialized comparison tool.

Does switching views consume usage?

No. One usage is recorded only when you press Compare. View changes, navigation, copying and downloading do not add uses.

Is my code uploaded?

No. Comparison and export happen locally in your browser.
