How it works

Quality-safe optimization, not aggressive image recompression

Some compressors shrink PDFs by lowering image resolution. ZeeSharp’s current mode focuses on reversible structural improvements, which protects visual quality but means savings vary.

01

Compress streams

Uncompressed page-content streams are encoded more efficiently.

02

Remove duplication

Identical objects and unreferenced leftovers are consolidated or removed.

03

Preserve document features

Pages and higher-level document structures are cloned before optimization.

04

Protect against growth

If optimization produces a larger file, the original bytes are returned instead.

What savings should you expect?

Better opportunity

Generated or repeatedly edited PDFs

Documents with redundant objects, uncompressed streams or accumulated editor overhead can shrink noticeably.

Limited opportunity

Scans and image-heavy PDFs

JPEG images are usually already compressed. Lossless structure cleanup may save little without lowering image quality.

Possibly 0%

Already optimized PDFs

A well-optimized export may not shrink at all. A 0% result is valid and means the tool avoided making it larger.

Compress a PDF in four steps

Select

Choose a valid PDF within your account’s upload allowance.

2

Configure

Optionally remove metadata or enter the PDF open password.

3

Optimize

Run the lossless structural compression process.

4

Compare

Review exact before, after and saved values, then download.

Frequently asked questions

Will compression reduce image quality?

No deliberate downsampling or JPEG quality reduction is applied. The current compressor focuses on lossless PDF structure and stream optimization.

Why did I save 0%?

Your PDF was probably already optimized or mainly composed of compressed images. The tool returns the original when a new file would be larger.

Can scanned PDFs be compressed?

Yes, but lossless savings may be small because scans are commonly stored as already-compressed JPEG images.

Does removing metadata remove visible content?

No. It clears document information such as author, title, subject and keywords, not page text or images.

Can I compress an encrypted PDF?

Yes, if you provide its correct open password and have permission to access it.
