Frequently asked questions
Can I leave the cover page unnumbered?
Yes. Enter a custom page range beginning at page 2, such as 2-12, and set the starting number to 1.
How are custom selections numbered?
Selected pages are numbered in document order. For example, pages 2,4,7 with a start of 10 receive 10, 11 and 12.
What does “total” mean for selected pages?
Total-aware formats use the final printed number. If three selected pages start at 5, labels end at 7.
Will existing links and text remain usable?
The tool overlays page labels without rasterising the original pages, so existing PDF content remains in PDF form.
Can I number a password-protected PDF?
Yes. Expand the password option and provide the correct open password.
